About the Production
Set in the mid-1920s, Chicago follows Roxie Hart and veteran performer Velma Kelly as they vie for the spotlight in search of the American Dream: fame, fortune, and acquittal from their death row convictions.
Ram's Head's production combined advanced lighting, an LED video wall, and automated rotating columns to create a unique show-going experience. The five-piece live band was positioned in set scaffolding on the stage sides rather than a traditional pit, with musicians wearing individual headphones and video feeds of the music director.
Director Gabe Wieder noted: "Chicago's critique of American culture and censure of gun violence ring even more true today."
